At about the same time I was listening to the great teacher of indigenous wisdom, Martin Prechtel on the radio. Both are reeling, as are many of us, from the continuing "disaster of biblical proportions" ongoing in the Gulf. While the MS&M media claims that 58% of 'murrikans' want to continue on the same old path of "all about self" and plunging the knife ever deeper into the heart of the Mother so to preserve some so-called "way of life", the obvious missing element here is well known and hardly needs to be said: Empathy. Just like Respect, the humans have fled from Empathy faster and faster for last 5000 years.
Prechtel was describing the event as a great "spiritual heart attack". He spoke of the Mayan view of Oil as the "neuron-deity of the memory of what it means to be a living creature". Their view of the Ocean is the Great Mother whose children we all are. They look at the Ocean, but don't Touch Her until they have been through a certain initiation. She is viewed with the highest reverence. The Mayan word is Ya. Ya for the Ocean, and all women have the prefix Ya before their names.
Empathy seems to be the test and the key and the line in the sand for this point in time in our spiritual evolution. I don't know if those who have put off rediscovering their sense of empathy with all beings have any more time left. It's gonna be a hard rain. Martin, as he has been doing for years, advises us to fully feel our grief, both for the creatures our brethren and for the Mother/Grandmother. His teaching is: to "metabolize the grief into beauty, of an active prayer for a time beyond our own, something that makes a human into someone worth descending from, and to become a neighbor to all other creatures and beings in the world." He also emphasizes that "the WAY you do everything absolutely MATTERS". Not "how big" your action is. We must love one another (and ourselves) for our "small greatness".

Time has come to speak to the hearts of our Nations and their Leaders. I ask you this from the bottom of my heart, to come together from the Spirit of your Nations in prayer.
We, from the heart of Turtle Island, have a great message for the World; we are guided to speak from all the White Animals showing their sacred color, which have been signs for us to pray for the sacred life of all things. As I am sending this message to you, many Animal Nations are being threatened,
those that swim, those that crawl, those that fly, and the plant Nations. Eventually all will be affected by the oil disaster in the Gulf.
The dangers we are faced with at this time are not of spirit. The catastrophe that has happened with the oil spill which looks like the bleeding of Grandmother Earth, is made by human mistakes, mistakes that we cannot afford to continue to make.
I asked, as Spiritual Leaders, that we join together, united in prayer with the whole of our Global Communities. My concern is these serious issues will continue to worsen, as a domino effect that our Ancestors have warned us of in their Prophecies.
I know in my heart there are millions of people that feel our united prayers for the sake of our Grandmother Earth are long overdue. I believe we as Spiritual people must gather ourselves and focus our thoughts and prayers to allow the healing of the many wounds that have been inflicted on the Earth. As we honor the Cycle of Life, let us call for Prayer circles globally to assist in healing Grandmother Earth (our Unc'I Maka).
We ask for prayers that the oil spill, this bleeding, will stop. That the winds stay calm to assist in the work. Pray for the people to be guided in repairing this mistake, and that we may also seek to live in harmony, as we make the choice to change the destructive path we are on.
As we pray, we will fully understand that we are all connected. And that what we create can have lasting effects on all life.
So let us unite spiritually, All Nations, All Faiths, One Prayer. Along with this immediate effort, I also ask to please remember June 21st, World Peace and Prayer Day/Honoring Sacred Sites day. Whether it is a natural site, a temple, a church, a synagogue or just your own sacred space, let us make a prayer for all life, for good decision making by our Nations, for our children¹s future and well-being, and the generations to come.

"A BP executive stated that they were removing 3000:1 gas to oil at the well before the explosion. (thats 3000 cubic feet of gas for every barrel of oil) The amount of oil leaking into the gulf is 25,000 to 70,000 barrels.
a 3000:1 ratio would mean 75 - 210 million cubic feet of gas per day being released.
There is 5.64 cubic feet of gas per barrel.
That would mean there is 13.3 to 37.2 million "barrels" of gas being released each day.
I really think that this is the most significant issue. The amount of natural gas being released is 3000 times more in mass than the oil. But people only talk about the oil!
Oxygen depletion in the deep water zones is significant because there is a buffer of low-oxygen between depths of 300 and 700 meters.
That would mean there is 13.3 to 37.2 million "barrels" of gas being released each day.
This deep water oxygen depletion zone has the potential of killing most deep water sea life in the entire Gulf of Mexico.
"It could take years, possibly decades, for the system to recover from an infusion of this quantity of oil and gas," Joye said. "
If it is stopped right now it will take decades.

The deposit of oil they were tapping in to has been described as the second largest oil deposit ever -- anywhere -- even when one considers Saudi Arabia, the Russian discoveries, Iraq. This oil deposit has been estimated to have the potential to yield 500,000 barrels of oil per day for from 10 to 15 years!
The well that exploded and sank was cautiously tapping the fringe of the deposit after discovering that the central pressure of the oil and natural gas was as high as 165,000 to 170,000 psi. For comparison, your SUV tires usually contain 40 psi.

According to insiders, the deposit is mostly natural gas -- a ratio of 10,000 to 1 -- with oil being a small portion of the bounty. It covers an estimated 25,000 square miles, extending from the inlands of Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Texas. It's huge and, like a plump blister, it's ready to pop.

Prominent Oil Industry Insider: "There's Another Leak, Much Bigger, 5 to 6 Miles Away"
Matt Simmons was an energy adviser to President George W. Bush, is an adviser to the Oil Depletion Analysis Centre, and is a member of the National Petroleum Council and the Council on Foreign Relations. Simmon is chairman and CEO of Simmons & Company International, an investment bank catering to oil companies.
Simmons told Dylan Ratigan that"there's another leak, much bigger, 5 to 6 miles away" from the leaking riser and blowout preventer which we've all been watching on the underwater cameras:
I have no idea whether or not Simmons is right. The government should immediately either debunk or admit his claim.
If accurate, the bigger leak could have been caused by the destruction of the well casing when the oil rig exploded. That is Simmons' theory.
Or it could be caused by a natural oil seep, although the odds of a seep of that size occurring right around the time of the Deep Horizon disaster is nearly zero.
Beautifully said. Mick has been posting your words on my blog. In my own words, I feel that this bleeding is the tipping of the scales, the fall that builds up momentum as the Earth begins to right herself.
This is not the first time humanity has hurt the earth so badly that she has cleansed herself of us. But each time her revival is a bit further from her original perfection.
And this, this is the most soiled of them all. The last cleanse was by water. I have long said that fire is the only way to rid the world of certain things. For example, when a person dies of a hideous disease, do not foul the earth with the remains. Do not leave it to poison the wild things. Burn it as a sacrifice.
In my deepest heart, I fear this fire lies in our future if things do not change, and soon. Thank you again.
